Lindsay Wildlife Experience

Previously known as the Lindsay Wildlife Museum, the Lindsay Wildlife Experience is a family museum and animal rehabilitation center. You can visit the museum at 1931 1st Ave, Walnut Creek, CA 94597.  It is the only wildlife hospital in the United States. This family-friendly attraction is located in the San Francisco East Bay and is one of the most popular attractions in the San Francisco Bay Area. The Lindsay Wildlife Experience was founded in 1955 by Alexander Lindsay. It was initially called the Diablo Junior Museum, and was renamed to its present name sixty years later. In 1965, it moved to its current location in a former water pump house in Walnut Creek. In the following years, the museum was taken over by the city of Walnut Creek. In 1986, the museum became a private nonprofit organization. In 1970, the center began a wildlife rehabilitation program and was renamed the Lindsay Wildlife Experience in 2015.
The wildlife hospital opened in 1955, and since then, the facility has become one of the most popular family attractions in the East Bay. In addition to animal exhibits, the museum also hosts educational programs and field trips. In 2015, the nonprofit center opened a theater where visitors can watch a show about wildlife treatment centers. The museum has received more than a million visitors per year and is one of the largest wildlife rehabilitation facilities in the country.
