I have been in the cleaning industry for nearly 10 years. I was an account manager (salesman) for a janitorial service company for many years. I was in literally hundreds of businesses all over the Bay Area giving quotes for janitorial service. Which would sometimes include carpet cleaning, strip and waxing floors, tile and grout cleaning and so on. I hated it. The biggest reason was quality control. It was so hard to hold the janitors accountable for the quality of their work. I need to be associated with quality and integrity. This is my personality. This is my nature. When your work doesn't reflect your true nature I believe it creates an internal conflict. Do you know what I'm talking about? Ha! A lot of people do.
Anyway, when a client would ask for a price to get their carpets cleaned or strip their floors I would have to drive out, measure and get them a quote. I would then farm this work out and make nothing. So I started doing some side work at nights and weekends to learn how to do it myself. And I quickly realised that these guys didn't care about quality either! Lol. So I studied and learned and asked questions and decided I could do a better job than the "professionals" that we were hiring. So I bought a carpet cleaning van and worked on the side until I was able to quit my job.
Here's the deal. I actually like carpet cleaning. I like taking a floor that's dirty and making it clean. It's instant feedback! Instant gratification. And it really does make your environment cleaner and healthier. All of that fits my personality. And I genuinely care about the job I do. I want you to be happy. After all this time I still get juiced when someone says "Wow! That looks amazing"! It really does mean something to me. So that's what I shoot for.
I know that I have a personal standard as far as my effort on a job. And if I don't meet that standard, at the end of the day, I'll know I could have done better. And I hate that! I left my sales job due to lack of quality control. So quality and effort are now 100% in my control. The benefit to you is that I will give you my best. Everytime.
