Eugene O'Neill National Historic Site

Visit the Eugene O'Neill National Historic Site, located at 1000 Kuss Rd, Danville, CA 94526, and learn more about America's only Nobel Prize-winning playwright. The house he inhabited, Tao, was inspired by the Eastern culture and serves as a museum. In 1937, O'Neill moved to the area and began writing his last plays in solitary confinement. It is now a visitor center.
The Eugene O'Neill National Historic Site is located in Danville, California. The center is home to the Tao House, which was the house that O'Neill called home from 1937 until 1944. The site has an archive of materials pertaining to O'Neill's life, and sponsors productions of his plays. The site is located on the edge of the Las Trampas Regional Wilderness, and is accessible by foot and horseback.
The house is modeled after the Tyrone family that O'Neill lived with in Danville. The Tyrones live at Tao House, a historic home built by O'Neill himself. The Foundation runs an archive of O'Neill material and sponsors productions of his plays. The park is located on the border of the Las Trampas Regional Wilderness, and visitors can hike, bike, and walk through the woods.
The museum is open year-round, but you can make reservations in advance if you'd like to take a tour. The museum offers a shuttle to the Eugene O'Neill National Historic Site. You can also park at a nearby museum. You can then hop on a bus to Walnut Creek. The shuttle will pick you up at 205 Railroad Avenue in Danville.
